When Zach Met Kiersen

Kiersen and Zach met in 2016, in their first year of law school. Kiersen always wanted to be a lawyer and was thrilled to start at George Mason University’s Law School. Zach, on the other hand, unsure of how he would use his Political Science degree, did what any other argumentative liberal arts graduate does...he applied to law school!

The two were classmates in the same law school section and hung out in the same circle of friends (well, sort of). Kiersen sat in the front row in all of her classes and was best friends with her textbooks for much of the first semester of law school. Meanwhile, Zach sat in the back row with all the cool kids and went to one too many happy hours when he probably should have been studying.

By the second semester, Kiersen eventually branched out of the law library long enough to get invited to a party. At that party, they sat next to each other and talked all night. From then on they developed a close friendship — Kiersen showing Zach how to be studious and Zach showing Kiersen life outside of law school (kidding, sort of…) Before long, they soon realized that the thing they looked forward to most was seeing each other every day and they went from friendship to a relationship.

From then on, the two were inseparable. From mock trial partners to travel buddies, they grew to love each other more as time went on. And after many sleepless nights studying, they graduated from law school in the summer of 2019 and passed the bar shortly after.

Love in the Time of Quarantine

A few months into starting their careers, the pandemic hit and the two were now inseparable by force, stuck in a two-bedroom apartment working side by side every day. Hundreds of hours of Netflix, Zach cooking recipes Kiersen found on Pinterest, and a few trips to Cape Cod later, they found that their bond was even stronger than ever.

In the fall of 2020, the two shared another milestone when they moved in together (and Kiersen allowed Zach to have one-quarter of the closet space in their bedroom). Between decorating for the holidays, entertaining family and friends, and snuggling up on the couch for football Sundays, the two have made their house into a home.

The Most Magical Proposal

One night about three years ago, Kiersen casually mentioned how romantic and amazing she thought hot air balloons were. The two didn’t speak of it past that night, but little did Kiersen know that Zach spent the next three years planning what would arguably become the most magical proposal that she could have ever imagined.

For their five-year anniversary, Zach surprised Kiersen with a trip to the Turkish countryside. It was halfway across the world, beneath hundreds of hot air balloons as the sun was rising that Zach told Kiersen that the greatest adventure that he’d ever been on was loving her, and that he never wanted that adventure to run out. After about ninety seconds of tears, Zach asked Kiersen to marry him…and the rest is history!

And now Kiersen and Zach are so excited to celebrate the start of their next chapter with you all in one of their favorite places…the next adventure awaits!
